NB: When amending a variable in NeoTools always tap 'Calc' button to refresh results

Catheter length
Image
Enter shoulder-umbilicus height and tap 'Calc'. UAC and UVC lengths for different sites calculated. Calculation based on linear regression data.

Corrected gestational age: Based on estimated gestational age at birth:
Image
Enter estimated gestational age at birth and date of birth. Adjust today's date if required. Corrected gestational age and chronologic age calculated. (Canadian date format shown but actual appearance will depend on user's PDA settings).

Corrected gestational age: Based on first day of last menstrual period:
Image
Enter first day of LMP, date of birth (not required if only EDD required) and adjust today's date if required. Estimated date of delivery, gestational age at birth, current corrected gestational age and chronologic age calculated.

Drug database
Image  -> Image
Scroll down and select drug to view and/or edit content. Tap on 'New' button to add new drug entry.

Drug infusion
Image
Calculates drug infusion rates for medications such as dopamine etc. Enter weight (kg) and known variables (non-bold areas) - can enter dose of drug and volume of diluent and current rate to determine current dose infusion rate or alternatively enter desired dose infusion rate and drug dilution to determine iv rate.

Fluid/Electrolyte modification

1) Image  2) Image 3) Image
Will calculate nett Na+, K+, Ca++ and dextrose concentration before and after addition of NaCL, KCL, Calcium Gluconate and Dextrose water.
Choose base (stock) fluid already running and then enter diluent volume (eg. Ringer's 100ml - Fig 2) - stock concentration displays. Enter iv TFI and then volume of additives required. (Need to pull down concentration of Dextrose water desired. Always click Calc button when done - program does not update automatically. Nett concentration displays to right under [Final] - units as shown for base fluid. Infusion rates display at bottom (TFI must be entered for this to function). See Fig 3 for sample results (a bit screwy I know - just for example!).

Gestational Age calculation by estimated date of delivery
Image

Electrolyte infusion
Image
Calculate Na/K/Cl/Ca/P daily infusion rates (for weight) (+hourly for Na+ and K+), as well as current fluid iv infusion rate, based on weight and iv rate. Enter some or all electrolyte values for infusate.

Glucose infusion
Image
Calculate glucose infusion rate based on current infusate and iv rate and/or determine iv rate for desired infusate and glucose infusion.

Laboratory results
Image->Image

Image->Image

Separate and fully editable databases for laboratory results for term and preterm infants. Scroll down and select item to view or choose any and select 'New' to add new record.

Feed modification
Image
Calculate caloric density of feeds after addition of additive/s.
Pull down base feed (diluent) from list and enter applicable volume.  Enter amount of each additive/s to be added. Pull down list allows selection of formula powders with default value equal to one scoop (North American). The formula powder database can be accessed from the information page (top right hand corner). The base feed database (top line option) can be accessed and edited through the "Formula/Milk composition" option from the main menu.

Fluid intake
Image
Calculate iv rate and feed volume.

Formula/Milk composition
Image->Image
Select formula to view record and then option to edit/add/delete entry. Note: formula composition may vary locally - check data with products available in your area. Custom formulas can be added to database - these can accessed when doing any Feed Modification.

Jaundice prediction
Image
Hour specific serum bilirubin values (75th and 95th centiles - mg/dl and umol/l) for prediction of significant hyperbilirubinemia ('Bhutani' data).

Please see original references for application of this data:

Image

Oxygenation index
Image
Self-explanatory!

Partial Exchange Transfusion volume
Image

Calculate volume for partial exchange transfusion for polycythemia/hyperviscosity.

Nutritional Intake (Oral)
Image

Calculate caloric, protein, fat and carbohydrate intake for feed type and volume. Also calculates proportion of caloric intake from each component. Caloric density and composition is preset but may be viewed/edited through "Formula/Milk composition" option from the main menu.

Nutritional Requirements
Image->Image
Fully editable database of nutritional requirements for term and preterm infants

Phototherapy guidelines
Image
Phototherapy guidelines for term infants. Adapted from 2004 American Academy of Pediatrics guidlines (Pediatrics, July 2004).

Renal Solute Load
Image
Calculate potential renal solute load of feed.

Resuscitation Drugs
Image

Quick resuscitation drug reference.

TPN
Image
Calculate caloric, protein, carbohydrate and fat intake through parenteral nutrition. Enter weight, iv rate and TPN data. Will also calculate non-protein calorie to protein intake ratio.

Weight conversion
Image

Weight Gain
Image
Calculate weight gain/loss for defined period.
